CHAMPION POWERLIFTER DIED AFTER HELPING HIS PARTNER BACK ONTO THEIR JET SKI — LEAVING BEHIND A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER A holiday in Majorca ended in tragedy when 45-year-old Jeremy Paynter fell into the water after the stationary jet ski he was riding with his partner suddenly tipped over. Both were wearing life jackets, and Jeremy managed to help his partner climb safely back onto the craft. But despite being known for his extraordinary physical strength, the former powerlifting champion was unable to pull himself back aboard. He was eventually brought onto nearby rocks, but could not be saved. The contrast between the strength he displayed throughout his sporting life and the helplessness of his final moments has made the loss especially difficult for those who knew him. Tributes have remembered Jeremy as an “incredible dad” and a deeply caring man whose greatest pride was his seven-year-old daughter. Those closest to him described a larger-than-life figure whose warmth and loyalty mattered far more than any trophy he won.
