GOING GOING GARN

ALEJANDRO GARNACHO was forced off with a bloodied mouth just two weeks after signing for Aston Villa.

He made his debut against the Indonesia All Stars and was included in the starting XI again against BG Pathum.

However, he had to be replaced in Thailand during the first half.

Birmingham Mail reported Garnacho was blocked off by Ryan Edwards in a cynical move from the midfielder.

The former Manchester United man needed medical treatment on the field before having to make way due to the facial injury.

Villa led 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Emi Buendia and Victor Lindelof.

And Boubacar Kamara added a third in the second half.

There was another injury concern for the Premier League side when John McGinn landed awkwardly and appeared to jar his knee, with Unai Emery taking no risks and taking him off.

The Thai outfit pulled one back late on to make it 3-1.

But the match kicked off at the True BG Stadium in Pathum Thani late.

The pre-season friendly was due to get underway at 1.30pm UK time.

However, thunderstorms and extreme weather forced it back.

And eventually the match did start 30 minutes later than planned.

Garnacho is desperate to get his career back on track under Emery this season.

He swapped Old Trafford for Stamford Bridge last summer for £40million.

But he managed just one Premier League goal for the Blues in 24 appearances – 14 of which were starts.

Villa have taken Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho on loan in recent years but neither really took off at Villa Park.

But with Champions League football back in the West Midlands, Garnacho has the chance to prove his worth once again.
