Prince William Says He’ll Come to the U.S. for the World Cup, But Only on One Condition

Prince William has one condition for coming to the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

During a surprise guest appearance on New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce on Friday, July 3, the Prince of Wales chatted with Jason, 38, and Travis, 36, about how the United States is doing as a host country for the World Cup. Prince William, 44, told the American football stars he thinks the U.S. has been “fantastic” and that the 2026 tournament has been “a brilliant World Cup.”

“It’s been really well started and I think the tournament’s been well balanced,” Prince William said before Jason asked him, “What in your mind is a successful World Cup for England?”

Prince William responded, “I think winning it.”

Travis chimed in, “Yeah that’s it. That’s the easiest thing. Got it. He gets it. They make it to the finals, you’re gonna make the trip across the pond.”

“Definitely, if we’re in the finals,” Prince William agreed.

Prince William also told the Kelce brothers he’s “so pleased” the World Cup has returned. “I’ve been looking forward to World Cup for ages. Feels like a long time between the years that it’s come round again, but it’s so good it’s back on again.”

Elsewhere in Prince William’s New Heights episode, the Prince of Wales compared the difference between American and British cultures, admitting that the “beer definitely is going to taste different” for people traveling to the U.S. from England. “I think you haven’t met your match until you’ve met a lot of beer drinks from the UK. We can handle our own beer to anyone,” Prince William said.MSN

He also noted that the scale of stadiums “is really going to be quite a culture shock for a lot of fans.”

What Prince William was most adamant about, however, is that British fans “really know our football” and that it’s not called “soccer.” At the start of the podcast, he told Jason, “First of all, Jason, I have to correct you. It’s football.”

And while Travis “promised” Prince William he’d “love it” if he tried a “burnt end of brisket” at a barbecue, the Prince said, “It doesn’t sound great, Travis.”
