PAUL POGBA’S WIFE HITS BACK AT CALLS FOR HIM TO RETIRE AS FRESH INJURY THREATENS MONACO FUTURE — HER MESSAGE WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO IGNORE What should have been another chance for Paul Pogba to rebuild his career has instead turned into another crushing setback. With reports suggesting Monaco could now tear up the 33-year-old’s contract after yet another injury blow, frustration quickly spilled onto social media, where some fans began asking whether the former Manchester United star should finally walk away from football altogether. But then his wife stepped in. Rather than stay silent as the retirement talk grew louder, she delivered a pointed response that shifted the conversation from Pogba’s body to everything he has endured behind the scenes. It was brief, personal and fiercely protective — the kind of message that made clear just how differently those closest to him see this latest chapter. And what she said to those telling Pogba to quit has now become the most talked-about part of the story…

Paul Pogba‘s wife has hit back after claims that her husband should retire from football, with Monaco set to rip up his contract.

The former World Cup winner and ex-Man United midfielder has been dogged by injuries in pre-season and multiple reports in France state that his agents are in talks with the club over a mutual termination, at Monaco’s request.

Pogba had been trying to revive his career following a doping ban but only featured in six games last season while earning £44,000-a-week at the Ligue 1 side.

He suffered a knee issue after 45 minutes of pre-season and another nasty setback with a thigh injury last week. But with some fans suggesting his body can no longer tolerate playing at the top level, his wife Zulay, 33, defended her husband online.

She wrote: ‘For all the people saying Paul should retire or he came back to football for the money, let me make this clear, the only one who knows when he will retire is God.

‘And for the ones who say he came back for the money, trust me we are very good with money, thank God.

‘Social media accepts everything. People can sit behind a screen and say whatever they want, insult someone, question their intentions and forget that there is an actual human being on the other side.

‘For those questioning what he has left to prove, let me remind you he achieved the dream every footballer in the world grows up chasing, dreaming to have. He won the World Cup for his country.’

Zulay is a Bolivian model and influencer and the couple met in 2017 before getting married two years later. They have two sons aged seven and six together.

Pogba only returned to training last week after injuring himself in the first game of pre-season but sustained a thigh issue in a small-sided game and was scheduled for an MRI this week.

Daily Mail Sport understands he was offered to MLS clubs in America on Tuesday.

He had already left Juventus after having that contract terminated by mutual consent in December 2024.

Pogba was emotional when he signed for Monaco last summer, describing his comeback as a second chance after what he called ‘a time of darkness’.

The midfielder told Daily Mail Sport in 2024 that he discovered news of his reduced ban while preparing for a film premiere, adding: ‘We went through hell. A time of darkness. But this is my second chance, I have to use it.’
