Prince Harry will NOT stay at Buckingham Palace ‘because he did not give Royals enough notice despite accepting offer’

Prince Harry is not staying at Buckingham Palace during his visit to the UK this week – despite claims by his team – after he failed to accept in time, it was revealed today.

The Duke of Sussex is expected to land in London on Monday without Meghan, Archie and Lilibet amid the continuing row over the family’s security.

A spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex said this morning that he had accepted an offer from King Charles to stay at Buckingham Palace.

But in another extraordinary twist, shortly afterwards this was denied because Harry left it so late to accept the Palace did not have enough notice.

It is the latest twist in 10 days of fraught discussions over taxpayer-funded police protection, which are said to have reduced Harry to tears.

The Daily Mail understands that despite repeated requests for clarity, no formal response to the offer of accommodation at a Royal residence for the Duke and his family had been received by the necessary deadline at the end of last week.

While every effort had, it is understood, been made to facilitate the Duke’s stay, as a courtesy to staff and others involved, the Royal Household does require a minimum level of notice to ensure he could be hosted appropriately at a Royal residence.

Since this offer was first made, every indication from the Duke and his senior team has remained that the accommodation was deemed unsuitable, including in correspondence received on Saturday morning which formally declined The King’s offer.

While a belated request was subsequently received later in the day to accept this accommodation for the Duke for a limited period, the appropriate hospitality and staffing provision was no longer available.

Father and son are expected to meet, although any plans are likely to remain private.

The key question remains whether Meghan, Archie and Lilibet will also fly to Britain to see the King and spend time with him for the first time in four years.

Harry’s wish to stay in a royal palace is extraordinary given his long-running criticism of the institution and the so-called ‘men in grey suits’ who work for his father.
