Kate and William spent ‘lively’ New Year’s Eve with Middletons: ‘Party atmosphere’

KATE, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William likely had a “lively” New Year’s Eve with the Middletons, where there would have been a “party atmosphere”, unearthed accounts show.

On Friday the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated the New Year by sharing a romantic picture on their Instagram. The photo featured the pair cosying up in the back of a limousine in September, while on their way to the premiere of the newest James Bond film ‘No Time To Die’. William is in a tuxedo while Kate is wearing a dazzling gold-sequin Jenny Packham cape gown.

Below the picture of the beaming royal couple was the caption “Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!”

It has been widely reported that William and Kate celebrated the New Year with Kate’s family in West Berkshire.

The Cambridges have joined the Middleton’s for New Year’s Eve on a number of occasions since William and Kate wedded in 2011.

In 2013, after spending Christmas with the Queen and the Royal Family at Sandringham, the couple decided they wanted to celebrate the New Year with the “amazingly supportive” Middletons.

That year a friend of the pair claimed to Express.co.uk that New Year’s Eve hosted by Michael and Carole Middleton was likely to be a “lively” occasion with a “great party atmosphere”.

They said: “William and Kate are just like any normal couple and want to spend time with both families.

“It’s a situation that millions can identify with and obviously you can’t be in two places at once.

“So this year they are reversing it and seeing in 2014 with Catherine’s family.

“They have been amazingly supportive in the past couple of years and of course, they are doting grandparents to George.

“William likes being in Sandringham but he also loves the informality of staying with Kate’s parents and just chilling out in a normal family environment.”

Kate’s siblings, Pippa and James were also in attendance at the New Year event.

Meanwhile, Pippa’s boyfriend at the time Nico Jackson and James’ former girlfriend Donna Air were also said to have been invited.

The friend added: “It’s going to be a lively night with a great party atmosphere.

“The Middletons are always great hosts and like guests to enjoy themselves.”

This year, Kate had another celebration on the horizon ‒ her 40th birthday.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who often spends her birthdays in private with her family, celebrates the milestone on January 9.
