Kate Middleton Shares an Emotional Moment with Mom Finishing Cancer Treatment and Tells Baby, ‘Isn’t Mummy Brave?’

Kate Middleton shared a special moment with a fellow mom marking the completion of her cancer treatment.
The Princess of Wales, who publicly announced her cancer diagnosis in 2024 before completing treatment and announcing she was in remission in early 2025, visited The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester on Thursday, June 4. There, she learned about holistic care options for cancer patients.
Princess Kate met 30-year-old Claire Lorente, who was marking the last day of her treatment for breast cancer, during the visit. After being introduced, the royal, 44, offered Claire a hug and congratulated her by saying, “Well done, you!” as seen in a video shared on social media by Hello! magazine

The royal kept a reassuring hand on Claire’s arm as they spoke, with Kate asking how long she had been doing treatment and calling it an “amazing day” after a “tough” journey. Claire wiped away tears as she explained she’s been doing treatment for nearly six months and had an upcoming surgery.
The Princess of Wales also turned her attention to Claire’s partner, telling him, “I know it’s just as hard for families and loved ones.”
She added, “I know how hard it was for the children and my parents. You go through it with them.”
Princess Kate also said hello to Claire’s baby, saying, “Isn’t Mummy brave?”
The Princess of Wales then backed up and told Claire, “This is your day.” The royal then smiled and clapped as Claire emotionally rang the bell to celebrate the end of her treatment.

Princess Kate made the solo visit to Christie’s, considered to be one of Europe’s leading cancer centers, to learn how the hub uniquely offers holistic therapies free of charge and provides a range of therapies to address symptoms common with cancer diagnoses and treatment, including stress, depression, fear, worry and anxiety-induced nausea.

This was the second cancer-related outing of the week for the Princess of Wales. On June 2, she joined her father-in-law, King Charles, who continues to undergo treatment for cancer, and other members of the royal family at a reception commemorating the 125th anniversary of Cancer Research U.K. The outing was significant as Kate and the King’s first joint engagement championing a cancer-related cause after their diagnoses were disclosed in 2024.
