King Charles and Prince Harry once had an “incredibly tight bond” according to a former royal gardener, who has said it is “sad” to see the state of their relationship now. Jack Stooks, who worked as a royal gardener at Highgrove – the King’s private home – spent much time during his working life with the monarch.
As well as tending to the Highgrove gardens, Jack got to see what the royals were really like behind-the-scenes. This included what King Charles was like with his sons Prince William and Prince Harry. While it is well-known the monarch and Harry, 41, have not had the smoothest-sailing of relationships over recent years, this was not always the case.
Instead, Jack said the father-and-son were once very close, helped by the fact they were “very similar”.
This has made the decline of their relationship “sad to see”, Jack Stooks exclusively told The Daily Express.
Speaking on behalf of OLBG, Jack said: “While I was working for the family, Harry and William got on extremely well with their father.
“Harry was always mischievous to be around, very similar to the King. You would always see them poking fun at each and always had an incredibly tight bond.”

He continued: “It is sad to see how their relationship has developed over the years.
While they may not be as close now, Harry and the King are set to reconcile soon on Harry’s upcoming UK visit.
The father-and-son last saw each in September, when Harry was seen arriving at Clarence House for a brief meeting with the monarch.
It seems that they did not meet on Harry’s last UK visit earlier this year.
