A letter by the late Diana, Princess of Wales, sent to a fan following her bombshell Panorama interview in 1995, is going under the hammer and contains several new revelations. Diana’s interview with the BBC on November 20, 1995, caused a media storm after she spoke about her relationship with Charles and his infidelity.

A week later, on November 27, the princess wrote to one of her fans, who had sent her a letter following her controversial interview. The fan, Michael Barratt, watched the Panorama interview and was allegedly “so moved” by it that he sent Diana a supportive letter telling her how hard it can be to move on and that life can be better in time.

In the letter, Diana revealed that she wishes to share and teach her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, the importance of deeper communication in the future.

She thanked Mr Barratt for his lovely letter, having just received it upon her return from Argentina.

The princess said that she was touched by the contents of his letter and by his profound words, and particularly about his sentiments of self-knowledge and moving on in life.

She added that she hoped the Panorama interview would help other women in similar difficulties.

She finished her letter with: “With my best wishes, Yours sincerely, Diana.”

The letter will go on auction on June 9, as part of Reeman Dansie’s Royalty, Antiques & Fine Art auction.
