King Charles ‘railroaded’ into meeting Prince Harry as he feared ‘hysterical’ response

King Charles was reportedly “railroaded” into meeting his son Prince Harry last September in what was seen as a big step forward in their relationship, it has been revealed. Although the monarch, 77, is a family man, he was reportedly on rocky terms with his youngest son Prince Harry, who quit royal life in 2020 and has criticised the Royal Family multiple times since.
However, after they reunited last September during Harry’s last UK visit – marking their first face-to-face meeting in over a year – it was believed Charles and Harry were on their way to a full reconciliation. This is now not believed to be the case.
This is because a royal expert has said that King Charles reportedly was “railroaded” into meeting his youngest son last September.
According to royal expert and the Daily Mail’s royal editor Rebecca English, the King could also feel this way if they meet again this year, especially after Harry accused people of being “intent on sabotaging any reconciliation between father and son” after the meeting in September when reports suggested the meeting between the pair had been very formal.
Rebecca English wrote: “Much has been made of their meeting at Clarence House in September, the first between them for 19 months.
“And while people are reluctant to comment on the circumstances – knowing how hysterical the Sussexes can be about (wrongly) perceived palace briefings and leaks – the impression I get is that the King felt slightly railroaded into it.
“In truth, he knew that if he refused to meet Harry, then this would inevitably have been ‘weaponised’ against him at some point in the future. Better to meet and then retreat instead.”

Harry, 41, is expected to make some visits to the UK from his Montecito home across the pond this year, however it is not known whether he plans to meet up with his father.
It is believed the duke will want to, especially as he told The Guardian last year just days after reuniting with the King that his focus will be on his father over the next 12 months.
The King has kept quiet over his relationship with his youngest son, and has never revealed any details of their meetings.
