Prince Harry made an appearance on James Corden’s sports programme to discuss the World Cup, where he got fired up over the TV host calling the game ‘soccer’ instead of football. The Duke of Sussex featured on the Fox programme After Hours over the weekend, alongside Corden and co-host former English footballer Rio Ferdinand, where they discussed the exciting World Cup final.
During their chat, Harry seemed perplexed when Corden kept referring to the game as ‘soccer’, which is what football is called in the US. In the episode, James asks the prince: “So are you a fan of soccer?”

“I always thought you were too posh to go to a school where they played soccer,” Corden added. Harry then corrected him, saying: “Too posh to play football, you mean. Why do you keep calling it soccer?”
Corden then responds: “Because we’re in the United States, baby.” But despite his excuse, the TV host referred to the game mostly as football for the rest of their conversation.
Despite Harry’s passion over the sporting terms, it was just weeks ago that he himself referred to the game as ‘soccer’, when speaking with Alison Hammond during an Invictus Games event in Birmingham.
Just two weeks ago, the Duke travelled to the UK to mark the official one year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, as he spent a day in the city trying out various sports and meeting with veterans to commemorate the occasion.
During the event, Harry spoke candidly with the ITV host, who invited him to her home for ackee and saltfish, to which the Duke enthusiastically replied: “And some soccer as well?” He then quickly corrected himself: “Some football, sorry. Football, not soccer.”
Elsewhere during Harry’s chat with James Corden, he was asked to rank famous Englishmen who share his name, including Harry Kane, Harry Styles and Harry Potter.

Corden said: “It’s our last show. Let’s hash it out. Where do you put yourself in the list of greatest British Harry’s?”
After much deliberation, the prince said he placed Harry Styles in the top spot, Harry Kane second, while he put himself and Harry Potter in joint third, saying he and the fictional wizard would “have a Quidditch-off”.
He also added that while he did play football at school, he was demoted to a lower ranking team. Harry said: “You know what, in prep school, I was on the first team. And then I went to the bigger school, and I ended up on the E team. Big A team, down to E team. So that didn’t feel very good.”
