The Princess of Wales has featured in a special edition of “Overheard at Wimbledon”.

The Princess of Wales has featured in a special edition of “Overheard at Wimbledon” alongside Tim Henman and the All England Lawn Tennis Club’s chair, Debbie Jevans. Kensington Palace shared a short video showing the trio chatting as they watched the Arthur Fery vs Otto Virtanen match on Court 18 last Thursday.
They discussed how the sport has changed since the late 90s and also discussed Catherine’s recent completion of the Three Peaks Challenge.
Catherine surprised members of the public with her visit to Wimbledon last week, handing out tickets to attendees and taking card payments at the entrance to the prestigious tennis event. She frequently stopped to chat and some fans were left puzzled when pictures appeared to show the princess wearing a microphone clipped under the left side of her jacket.
The release of the video now explains why Catherine had been wearing the device: to record her conversations with the former British number one and the AELTC chair.
During the chat, Tim asks the princess what the preparation was like. “I did it in 24 hours, that was the challenge anyway. But I think part of the journey was trying to enjoy the process. The training beforehand but also making time during the walk to meet people and enjoy the journey rather than just quickly getting to the top.”
Catherine also spoke about the conditions during the gruelling physical challenge, saying: “The weather was atrocious. I mean, everybody got soaked through. But it was a very stoically British thing to do. You know, you’re soaking wet and everyone’s going ‘Come on, we can do it!’.”
She explained that she completed the challenge for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, which is where she received her own treatment for cancer in 2024.
“I have just been so blown away by all the donations,” she said. “Everyone’s been so generous. That’s what keeps you going, it’s when you know you’re doing it for a good cause. Keeps you going through the harder times.”

The conversation then returns to tennis, with Catherine asking the former British number one what his top serve speed was and remarking on the game in front of them.
“That is seriously good tennis, lovely,” the princess says while clapping.
