The Royal Family stepped out for the 2026 Trooping the Colour yesterday – but a few royals were noticeably missing.

Whilst Prince Harry and Meghan Markle last made their final appearance the annual Trooping the Colour just weeks after Prince Archie’s birth in 2019, the seven-year-old and his little sister, five-year-old Princess Lilibet, have never attended the historic event for one major reason.
The King stepped out yesterday to mark the fourth Trooping the Colour of his reign, with the event known to be one of the biggest in the royal calendar. The event, which is held every June, marks the monarch’s official birthday.
The 77-year-old was joined by many of his family members; however, his two youngest grandchildren were noticeably absent once again.
Harry and Meghan attended the event together in 2018 and 2019, with the events in 2020 and 2021 cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The couple stepped down from royal duties at the start of 2020, with them completely settled into their new life in America by the time the event returned in 2022.
Meghan and Harry were in the UK for the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022, but did not appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony with their royal relatives as they were, by that time, officially no longer working royals.
Unlike her big brother, Lilibet was born in the US – with her birth taking place after her parents stepped away from royal duties.

Since stepping down as senior working royals, Harry, Meghan and their children have never been invited to Trooping the Colour.
Among the royals appearing at the event yesterday were Archie and Lilibet’s cousins, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
All three of the children have stepped out for the historic event on numerous occasions.
