Royal author Robert Hardman has spoken about what it was like meeting Queen Camilla two days in a row and what she said to him when she realised this

A royal author who saw Queen Camilla on two consecutive visits across 48 hours has spoken about her and the memorable comment she made to him.
Robert Hardman was appearing on the Daily Mail’s Palace Confidential podcast when he gave credit to Camilla, 79, and her work ethic.
Camilla, who recently appeared at the Commonwealth Games alongside her husband King Charles, was praised for the comment she made to Robert when she realised she had seen him twice in two days.
Speaking on Palace Confidential, Robert recalled his side of the story, and said: “I saw her two nights in a row…she was attending the 90th anniversary of one of our great book shops, Heywood Hill.

“And then the next day I was at a reception at Clarence House where she was marking 40 years of the Royal Osteoporosis Society.
“So I saw her at that and said, ‘Hello Your Majesty’ and she said, ‘I think you’re stalking me’. She’s great fun. She’s great fun…and at an age when most of her contemporaries have retired or certainly thinking about it, she’s cranking up the workload.”

In response to Robert’s recounting of the story, including Camilla’s comment, the rest of the people on the podcast laughed and agreed that she had a good work ethic.
Robert isn’t the only individual with a positive relationship with Camilla to have spoken about the Queen. Her friend, former MP turned podcaster Gyles Brandreth has also noticed Camilla upping her workload.
He told Hello!: “You might think she could slow down, but they are having to quicken the pace. But I never get the impression that she is doing it reluctantly.”
Alongside Gyles and Robert, another author has also spoken about how Camilla’s work ethic could be down to the fact that she didn’t have a career earlier in her life and is trying to make up for lost time.

Said author, Catherine Mayer, said the fact Camilla had a huge new role in the form of being the Queen, meant there was an opportunity to do some more work.
She also told Hello!: “This is a woman who really was very happy not having a career, and who liked to potter and do things that interested her, and now suddenly she has this huge role. She’s lived a lot of her life in different directions to most of us.”
Gyles’ comments came as Camilla celebrated her 79th birthday earlier this month on July 17. He remarked about how he thinks she feels about birthdays.
He said: “I don’t think she sees birthdays as a big deal, but family is very important to her, so that is her kind of celebration…. I think the truth is, she’s in a good place, though when you say to her, ‘Well done, it’s going so well,’ she shrugs and says, ‘Well, on we go.’”
