Brenecki said a later hearing will determine “what is in fact recoverable and how liability is apportioned.”

Although the overall legal bill has drawn headlines, experts caution that Harry is unlikely to shoulder the entire amount personally.

Royal expert Kinsey Schofield told the outlet, “Prince Harry won’t be personally responsible for anything close to that figure. Insurance is expected to absorb at least part of the liability. The problem is that the overall legal bill appears to have exceeded the available insurance cover, meaning someone will have to make up the difference.”

Schofield also warned that the outcome could still leave Harry facing a substantial financial burden.

“This litigation has become eye-wateringly expensive,” she said. “Between the court’s decision, the apportionment of costs, and uncertainty over what insurance will actually pay, this could still end up costing him a substantial sum.

According to Schofield, “The final costs will depend on how the judge divides the bill among the seven claimants and how much their insurers ultimately cover. Even so, this is another reminder that litigation isn’t just risky for Harry’s reputation. It can also carry a very real financial price tag!”
