FOUR people including a baby girl have tragically died after a car crashed into trees as one person was rushed to hospital.

Emergency services were called to a stretch of road between the A50 Toyota Island and the A516 in Derby at around 11pm on Saturday.

Officers found a red Hyundai car, containing five people, had left the carriageway and crashed into some trees.

Two women and a man were pronounced dead at the scene, with a baby girl taken to hospital but sadly passed away a short while later.

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Derbyshire Constabulary officers arrived at the scene on July 25 and found the wrecked vehicle.

Two women, aged 18 and 30, along with a 36-year-old man, were declared dead.

The three people, including the young girl, who are from Leeds in West Yorkshire, were passengers of the Hyundai car.

Specialist officers were deployed to support the relatives of those who lost their lives.

The road was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident but it has since been reopened.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The man, who is also from Leeds, has since been arrested.

A police spokesperson said: “Our thoughts are with them at this most distressing time.

“Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to please come forward.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who has any dash cam footage which may have captured the incident.”
