Jack Grealish trains with Spanish second division side after missing out on Man City pre-season squad
JACK GREALISH has been training at a second division Spanish club after missing out on Manchester City’s pre-season squad.
The attacker spent last year on loan at Everton but is yet to seal a transfer this summer.
Grealish, 30, looks set for another move away from the Etihad Stadium after falling down the pecking order.
The former Aston Villa captain was left out of the club’s pre-season squad for the tour of Hong Kong and Seoul as he is still recovering from his injuries.
He had reported for duty last week but was not included in the 30-man group by Maresca.
Grealish has made sure to keep up his fitness during the transfer window by jetting off for some warm-weather training.
He has settled into training at RCD Mallorca’s training ground in Spain as revealed in an Instagram story.
Grealish posted a video of himself on the pitch at the venue with the caption “Working”.
Mallorca are currently in the Segunda Division in Spain after being relegated from LaLiga last season.
Grealish is continuing to recover from his foot injury in January that he suffered and cut his campaign short.
The injury came as a huge blow as he was impressing under David Moyes at Everton during his loan spell.
It also ruined any chances that he had of being picked for England‘s World Cup squad.
Before Grealish’s injury, he had made 20 appearances in the Premier League for the Toffees.
He had scored two goals and assisted six more as the club challenged for a spot in Europe.
After he was ruled out, Everton slowly fell away in the race and ended up finishing 13th.
Grealish is now in the final 12 months of his £300,000-per-week contract at City.
Maresca has left the door ajar for the star to return to the squad despite Everton’s continued interest in another deal.
He said: “At the moment, he is here. He is a Manchester City player.
“I always said the same. In any club I join, I like to know if there are players that belong to the club.
“It’s my duty to try to coach them. Jack is here. I have a good relationship with Jack since I left.
“Also, we keep in touch, and the reason why is because he has a big heart and he is a very good guy.
“So this is the reason why and then we see what happens.”
