Kate Middleton was in mom mode during a recent outing.
The Princess of Wales, 44, visited the University of East London in Stratford on Wednesday, May 6. While there, she met with researchers, students and other figures in U.K. higher education to launch Foundations for Life: A Guide to Social and Emotional Development, her new resource from the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood intended for those working with young children.
Kate also spent plenty of time with mothers and children, and even had an adorable run-in with one of the younger guests she met during her visit.
In a clip shared to X on Wednesday, a young child can be seen walking down a hallway before excitedly turning into a doorway.
Just as they reached the entrance, the child bumped into Kate Middleton, who was stepping out of the room.
The child immediately wrapped their arms around her knees, prompting a surprised smile from the Princess of Wales. She gently patted the child’s shoulders and leaned down to guide them into the room.
As a mother of three, Princess Kate is no stranger to such sweet moments. She shares Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8, with her husband, Prince William. The royal couple recently celebrated their 15th anniversary with a family photo featuring all five of them.
The image was taken by one of their go-to photographers, Matt Porteous, during a recent family vacation in Cornwall. It also featured two other important members of the family: their black cocker spaniel Orla and brown puppy whose name has not yet been publicly revealed.
Kate — who has earned herself the nickname of “the Children’s Princess” — had another sweet encounter with kids the week before her Wednesday London visit.
While attending an Anzac Day service honoring Australian and New Zealand soldiers on Saturday, April 25, Kate had a heart-warming moment with two boys outside of Westminster Abbey.
A video showed Kate spotting the two kids waiting outside with their mom while the royal was leaving Westminster Abbey.

The princess walked over to the children and bent down to their level before shaking hands with the young boys, who appeared stunned by their interaction with her.
After chatting with the boys, Kate stood up and greeted their mother, then shook her hand, too.
Her latest outing on Wednesday comes shortly after Kate announced that she would be making her first overseas work engagement since her cancer diagnosis. The princess announced she was in remission in early 2025.
In her upcoming travels to Reggio Emilia in northern Italy on May 13 and 14, Kate will embark on a fact-finding trip focused on early childhood.
