Sydney Sweeney branded ‘a terrible actress’ as fans slam ‘humiliating’ season 3 scene
Euphoria returned with its highly-anticipated third season on Sunday evening and viewers had a lot to say about Sydney Sweeney reprising her role as Cassie Howard
Sydney Sweeney has been slammed after she made her return to the small screen in Euphoria dressed as a dog.
The 28-year-old actress reprised her role as Cassie Howard in the third season of the hit HBO series, and was seen panting on all fours and shaking her rear as she filmed content for her OnlyFans account. Cassie first appeared on screen as the song (How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window? played. Her canine costume was complete with a bodysuit, tail and a pair of ears. She barked, drank out of a dog’s water bowl and even bit into a sneaker.
As viewers tuned into the episode, fans rushed to X to share their disgust at Sweeney as one person wrote, “god she is a terrible actress,” and another said, “Nah Sydney Sweeney signed up for bulls–t this is humiliating.”
“Has sydney sweeney not tortured herself and all of us enough?” questioned another, while someone else claimed, “sydney sweeney you are an embarrassment to women.”
“Nah Sydney Sweeney signed up for a humiliation ritual this is crazy,” another viewer suggested, as Euphoria creator Sam Levinson received backlash for the scene too.
“I never thought I would ever care about Sydney Sweeney ever again but somehow Sam Levinson has somehow made me feel bad for her. Just why?” wrote another in response.
“Sam Levinson must HATEE sydney sweeney jesus christ,” added another.
“The first scene of Sydney Sweeney in this third season premiere episode of Euphoria kind of sums up all of Sam Levinson’s problems as a filmmaker,” wrote one more critic.
During the scene, Cassie’s fiancé Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, was seen returning home and immediately questioned what she was doing as she dropped a dog toy out of her mouth. Cassie confirmed that she was “just creating content” and that “people make money doing this” before Nate accused her of being a prostitute.
“You’re not a doggie, you’re a grown woman,” he fumed.
A voiceover by Zendaya’s character Rue Bennett explained that Nate has taken over the Jacobs’ family business following the arrest of his father, Cal Jacobs, played by the late Eric Dane. She also noted that Cassie is “dreaming big” about the upcoming wedding, leading her to create an OnlyFans account as an extra source of income.
In another scene, Cassie explained to Nate that she wants to start an OnlyFans account to pay for a more expensive floral arrangement for their nuptials. He expressed his disapproval, to which she responded, “We have a really big problem.” He conceded that she can make the account, but only if she doesn’t reveal her “pretty face.”
And it seems there will be more OnlyFans scenes to come in season three as fans recently threatened to boycott Euphoria when a new teaser clip showed Cassie dressed up as a baby as she filmed content.
