THIS is the moment Meghan took a “surprise” video call from Prince Harry during a guest judge appearance on MasterChef Australia.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, shocked contestants by picking up a FaceTime call from the Duke live on the show.
The former Suits star was dramatically revealed as a surprise guest judge on the down under version of the series on Channel 10.
Looking stunned as a show staff member hands her the phone, Meghan beams as she greets Harry and gushes that he was a “charmer”.
Another said: “Did Masterchef Australia really need a Prince Harry Facetime video call to be done? It’s about cooking, not Meghan and Harry making the show about them.”
However, not everyone was annoyed with the cameo with one viewer writing on social media that it was a “great show” and Harry’s appearance made it even better.
Meghan helped guide cooks alongside regular MasterChef Australia judges Poh Ling Yeow, Sofia Levin and Jean-Christophe Novelli for the 18th season of the cooking show.
As she rated contestants dishes towards the end of the episode, Harry surprised Meghan by phoning in.
The Duchess then praised Aaron Kher’s dish as delicious and said she loved the heat but joked that it would be “too spicy” for Harry, who was seen laughing in the background.
Meghan had earlier raved that she was “so excited” to be part of the programme as she walked onto the set after being introduced, dressed all in black.
She also revealed the big difference between her and Harry’s taste in food.
The Duchess said on today’s episode that cooking at home meant she had “a lot of palates to appease”.
She mentioned that husband Harry is from the UK and likes to eat a lot of “meat, potatoes and cream sauce” whereas she preferred “fish, grilled meats and lots of citrus”.
Meg also revealed that Harry can handle a “really good curry” and is not completely bad with spicy food.
Archie and Lilibet also “like brussel sprouts” according to Meghan.
The Duchess also said she was a “big fan” of MasterChef which was a “great show”.
In today’s episode, contestants were asked to cook a dish “fit for a Duchess” using one ingredient as their staple.
Meg was tasked with kicking off the cooking as she announced “your time starts now”.
The Duchess was also seen visiting the pantry as the contestants frantically started grabbing ingredients so they could start whipping up their dishes.
In the Australian version, judges frequently give feedback during challenges, pointing out potential problems if they see contestants are heading for disaster.
Meghan said “we love Australia” as she was asked about her impressions of the country.
The Duchess dipped out of her four-day tour with Harry in Australia back in April to join filming as an expert judge on the cooking show.
Former guest judges on MasterChef Australia include star chefs Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver.
Former working royal Meghan struck up a partnership with AI-powered fashion platform OneOff while she was being photographed on the trip down under in an array of clothes, including many from Australian designers.
It comes after Meghan shared holiday photos with Prince Harry and their kids Archie and Lilibet.
And the snaps – captioned “Summer Holiday” – include what appears to be a visit to Princess Diana‘s childhood home.
Dad-of-two Harry, 41, had intended to bring his wife and children with him for the full duration of his five-day trip to Britain, which included attending the Invictus Games in Birmingham.
However, he instead flew in alone and hours before arriving in London an invitation to stay at Buckingham Palace was reportedly withdrawn after he failed to meet the deadline for a decision.
Meghan meanwhile, delayed her arrival and entered the country in secret with Archie, seven, and Lilibet, five – due to ongoing security concerns after Harry lost a row with the Home Office over its refusal to provide taxpayer-funded protection, with him no longer being a working royal.
