Nate Boerkircher is on his way to Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Jaguars landed Texas A&M tight end Nate Boerkircher at the No. 56 overall pick in the NFL Draft. He was regarded as one of the Draft’s biggest reaches.

He heard his name called in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and there was one person more excited than he was. Like many players, they watched the Draft at their homes with family and friends.

After receiving the call, Boerkircher was already holding his cap in his hand and waiting to hear his name called on TV. Once it was called, his girlfriend gripped him tightly before jumping up and down and hugging him.

“New Jaguars TE Nate Boerkircher’s girlfriend has gone viral for her reaction while her boyfriend was being drafted. We have never seen anything like this…,” a post read on X. As of this writing, the video has garnered more than 2.4 million views and counting.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will look a bit different on offense next season, in part because of new second-round pick Nate Boerkircher. The Jacksonville Jaguars selected him with the 56th overall pick in the second round of the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.

In his only year in College Station, Boerkircher put up 198 yards and 3 touchdowns on 19 catches for the Aggies last season. As a Husker, Boerkircher had 19 catches for 219 yards and a touchdown in 39 games.

Tight end didn’t stand out as an immediate need for Jacksonville coming into the Draft. Last year, Brenton Strange had a breakout year with 540 yards and three touchdowns, finishing third on the team in both categories. However, he will be entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2026. There is a chance that the team does not sign him to a long-term deal.

That is where they hope their second-rounder comes in.

Speaking to reporters, Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen explained that he dreamed that the Jaguars landed Texas A&M tight end. It is now up to Nate Boerkircher to ensure that dream does not turn into a nightmare.
