Patrick Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the Chiefs’ Week 15 home loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. That game knocked Kansas City out of playoff contention, ending their postseason streak at 10 years.
Mahomes underwent surgery on Dec. 15. The hope is that he’ll be able to return for Week 1 of the 2026 season, but it’s anybody’s guess when he’ll receive clearance to return.
Patrick’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, posted several photos of a recent family getaway at a farm in Texas on her Instagram account. In two of the images, you can see the gnarly post-surgery scar on his left leg:
Patrick Mahomes Should Be Back With A Vengeance

Throughout the 2025 season, you probably saw many posts and takes about the Kansas City dynasty being over. But bet against Mahomes and Andy Reid at your own risk.
It took a plethora of injuries to key players, a down year from Mahomes and a brutal schedule for Kansas City to miss the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. Everything that could go wrong did, in fact, go wrong for them in 2025.
Kansas City signed Super Bowl 60 MVP and hero Kenneth Walker III, giving Mahomes a dangerous weapon in the passing game. Travis Kelce is returning for at least one more year, and KC has three picks in the top 40.
So yeah, be careful writing them off.
