Rory McIlroy’s visit to Wimbledon this week coincided with his ex-girlfriend also making the trip to SW19

Ex-tennis star Caroline Wozniacki posted a message online during her visit to Wimbledon – the same week Rory McIlroy attended the Grand Slam. The sporting duo dated from 2011 to 2014 and were even engaged at one point before the golf superstar broke things off.
The former Australian Open champion made the trip to SW19 this week and posted photos of her Wimbledon return on Instagram, writing the caption: “The grass @wimbledon is always greener.” The Dane’s post came not long after the Masters champion watched Novak Djokovic in action at the All England Club.
Donning his Green Jacket sat alongside his wife, Erica Stoll, the Northern Irishman became the centre of attention thanks to Djokovic who offered up a challenge after his second round victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas.
During his on-court interview, the 24-time Grand Slam champion halted proceedings and said: “Rory, Justin [Thomas], obviously Luke [Donald], it’s nice to see you guys. Congrats Team Europe on the Ryder Cup, I watched you guys.
“Rory, what a beautiful jacket. Is that a Masters jacket? It must be. Round of applause for Rory for the Masters, please. I want that jacket. I’ll play you. This jacket for that jacket, we’ll play tennis!
“No golf. I want to thank them obviously for being present. I know they arrived early and stayed all day so thank you guys. It really means a lot seeing you here.” Djokovic – who turned 39 in May – is aiming to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles but managed to place himself level with another one of the Swiss icon’s milestones.
His third-round victory against Arthur Rinderknech on Friday saw Djokovic equal Federer’s record of 105 men’s singles match wins at Wimbledon. After the match, he said: “To be able to make history of this sport is a huge honour and privilege, and particularly here.

“I am not interested in 105 or 106, I am just trying to win that match on a given day. I was quite stressed out. I had more tension than usual. But sometimes you just have to find a way to win, and I’m happy I did that today.”
Wozniacki was present at Wimbledon for Djokovic’s victory over the Frenchman bit it’s not known whether she attended his match. The 35-year-old is a former World No. 1 but never reached further than the fourth round at the legendary slam.

She initially retired from tennis in 2020 but made a comeback at the 2023 Canadian Open and the US Open. Wozniacki missed the entire 2025 season after giving birth to her third child and revealed in November later that year that a second return to the sport would be unlikely due to her family commitments.
