Skip Bayless got real honest on this one.
Skip Bayless dropped some interesting information when discussing the Dianna Russini-Mike Vrabel scandal.
Last week, photos emerged of Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel hanging out at the Ambiente hotel in Sedona, Arizona. The photos were taken on March 28, and they show Russini and Vrabel hugging, holding hands and relaxing at a swimming pool.
Many fans quickly jumped to the conclusion that there may be an affair. Russini has been married to her husband, Kevin Goldschmidt, since 2020. Vrabel and his wife, Jen, tied the knot in 1999, while he was playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
During the latest episode of “The Arena”, Skip Bayless dropped a real truth bomb on the sports reporting industry. Throughout his career, Bayless said he’s known of several instances where a female reporter would “something” with a coach or athlete:
“In my early days, I have seen several female reporters have something with an athlete or a coach and cross the line…You’re selling out. These women started getting scoops…big scoops, because of their relationships inside a team.
Similarly, I have seen male reporters slash columnists become ‘friends’ with players and coaches to the point that they socialize. That would outrage me, also, because I’m like, I’m not gonna cross that line. I’m going to remain completely objective.”

Bayless noted that Russini has been “out front” on A.J. Brown’s problems with the Philadelphia Eagles. He wonders whether her reporting and the rumors that Brown was going to the Patriots had something to do with the relationship with Vrabel.
Dianna Russini Was Placed On Leave By The Athletic
Even though The Athletic initially defended Russini after the photos surfaced, she was subsequently put on leave. The outlet, owned by the New York Times, is investigating her relationship with Vrabel.
Russini has been mostly quiet on social media since the photos surfaced, too. The “Scoop City” podcast, which she co-hosts with Chase Daniel and James Palmer, hasn’t published an episode since March 5.
The 43-year-old Russini joined The Athletic in the summer of 2023 after eight years at ESPN. Over the past decade, she has emerged as one of the most prominent NFL insiders. Now, her future in the field appears to be up in the air.
